Harab Rasheed
The rule: Umrah visa holders may travel between Makkah, Madinah and other cities in the Kingdom while the visa is valid. Many pilgrims add Taif, AlUla, Jeddah's old town or Riyadh.
Things to keep in mind
- Visa dates: the visa allows a stay of up to 90 days, but your own visa's printed dates are what count. Overstaying can bring fines of up to SAR 50,000, imprisonment and deportation.
- No Hajj, no work on an Umrah visa.
- Hotel and transport: book these yourself or through your provider; your Umrah package hotels only cover the nights booked in Makkah and Madinah.
- Respect local rules on dress and conduct in public places.
Ideas that pair well with Umrah: a Taif day trip, AlUla for its landscape and history (with care around sites that Muslims are taught not to enter for leisure), or a halal Red Sea stay.
