The official position (Ministry of Hajj and Umrah FAQ, checked 24 October 2026)
- Registering biometrics (fingerprints) for electronic Umrah visas has started for arrivals from the United Kingdom, Tunisia, Kuwait, Bangladesh and Malaysia.
- India is not on that list. Saudi Arabia can add countries, so follow whatever your own application asks.
- The approved app for registering biometrics is Saudi Visa Bio (published by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs). It records fingerprints and a facial image on your phone, without a visit to a visa centre.
If your application asks for biometrics
- Install Saudi Visa Bio from the official app store and enrol each traveller separately, in a well-lit room. The app store listing says it is for ages 6 and up, with adult supervision for under-18s.
- If the app can't read your fingerprints or face, you may be directed to a visa centre instead.
- Finish enrolment before you pay for non-refundable flights.
Other Saudi visa types (for example work or residence visas) have their own biometric rules; this answer is about the Umrah visa.
