How early should I apply for an Umrah visa before my travel date?

In short

Apply once your hotels and flights are confirmed, and leave several weeks before departure — more in Ramadan and school holidays. Biometric appointments and hotel registration can add time, and the 1448 season's last visa issuance date is 9 March 2027.

There is no single official processing time, so plan backwards from your flight:

  1. Fix dates and hotels first. Umrah visa applications are linked to confirmed hotel bookings registered in Nusuk, so the hotel nights must exist before the visa can be issued.
  2. Check your passport. It must be valid for at least six months from travel, with blank pages.
  3. Get the meningitis vaccine at least 10 days before arrival (it is a Saudi health requirement for every pilgrim).
  4. Allow for biometrics if your route requires an appointment at a visa centre.
  5. Leave a buffer for busy periods — Ramadan, Indian school holidays and the weeks before the season's deadlines.

Season deadlines (1448): last visa issuance 9 March 2027, last entry 23 March 2027, final departure 7 April 2027.

Don't book non-refundable flights for dates that leave no time to fix problems — a name mismatch or an unclear passport scan can mean re-applying.
