As-Sa'diyyah, south-east of Makkah. Flights from India, South Asia and the Far East usually cross near Yalamlam.

  1. Before boarding

    Bathe, then men change into the two Ihram sheets; women wear modest clothes. Do not make the niyyah yet.

  2. During the flight

    Rest and stay comfortable. Ihram rules start only after the niyyah.

  3. Listen for the Miqat announcement

    Usually 4h 45m–5h 10m after take-off. Be ready a little earlier.

  4. Make niyyah and start Talbiyah

    Before crossing the Miqat say: Labbayk Allahumma Umrah. From now on, Ihram rules apply.

  5. Landing in Jeddah

    Our driver meets you and takes you to your Makkah hotel (about 1–1.5 hours).

Talbiyah

لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ

Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayk la sharika laka labbayk, innal-hamda wan-ni'mata laka wal-mulk, la sharika lak.

Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. All praise, blessings and dominion are Yours. You have no partner.

Ihram and Miqat questions

When should I wear Ihram on a flight to Jeddah?

Most pilgrims change into Ihram clothes before boarding, then make the niyyah and begin the Talbiyah when the crew announces the Miqat — usually about 20 to 45 minutes before landing. You must be in Ihram before you cross the Miqat.

Do I need Ihram if my flight lands in Madinah?

No. If you go to Madinah first, you fly in normal clothes. You enter Ihram later at Dhul Hulaifah (Abyar Ali) on the way from Madinah to Makkah.

What is the Miqat for flights from India?

Flights from India usually pass near Yalamlam. Airlines announce the Miqat on board; follow the announcement and the guidance of your scholar.

Can I put on Ihram at Jeddah airport?

If you intend Umrah, you should not cross the Miqat without Ihram. Jeddah is inside the Miqat for most flights, so wait until Jeddah only if your scholar advises it for your route.
