My name is spelled differently on my passport and Aadhaar — will it affect my Umrah?

My Aadhaar says 'Mohd' and my passport says 'Mohammed'.

In short

For the Saudi visa and your flights, only the passport matters — use your name exactly as printed in the passport everywhere. Aadhaar isn't used for the Saudi visa. Mismatches between the passport, the ticket and the visa application are what cause problems.

What must match

  • Visa application: exactly as in the passport (given name and surname in the same fields).
  • Flight tickets: exactly as in the passport. A ticket in a different spelling can be refused at check-in.
  • Hotel and Nusuk bookings: use the passport spelling.

Where Aadhaar or PAN still matter

  • Indian travel paperwork such as payments and tax collected at source (TCS) uses your PAN. Different spellings there don't usually affect the Saudi visa, but keep your PAN details consistent with your bank records.

Common traps

  • Surname left blank on the passport — some systems then put the given name in both fields. Follow the passport layout and tell your provider.
  • Initials ("Mohd. A.") on a ticket when the passport has the full name.
  • Children's names spelled differently from the parents' surnames — that's fine, as long as each matches its own passport.

Next step: send us a passport photo page before booking and we will check every name in the family.
