For elderly parents, is a Clock Tower hotel better than a cheaper hotel further away?

In short

Often yes, because the shorter walk saves energy for worship — but not always. Large tower hotels can have long lift queues at prayer times, and some cheaper hotels a little further out have an easier, flatter route. Compare the real walk and the lift wait, not just the address.

Why the Clock Tower area is popular

  • Very short walk to the mosque's southern side.
  • Food, pharmacies and toilets close by.

The trade-offs

  • Lift queues after prayers can be long in very tall towers.
  • Price is much higher, especially in Ramadan.
  • Crowds at the tower entrances at prayer times.

When a further hotel can be better

  • If the route is flat and well lit, with a gate that's easy to use.
  • If the hotel has fewer floors and quicker lifts.
  • If the saving pays for a wheelchair pusher or private transport.

How to decide for parents: list the prayers they want to attend in the mosque, how far they can comfortably walk, and whether they'll use a wheelchair. Then compare two or three specific hotels on those points.
