Harab Rasheed
What to know about shuttles
- Not all hotels run them, and some are shared between several hotels.
- Drop-off points may be some distance from the mosque because of traffic restrictions near the Haram.
- Peak times: around Jumu'ah and in Ramadan, roads close and shuttles may stop or wait a long time.
- Late nights: check the last shuttle back after Isha or taraweeh.
Questions to ask the hotel
- Is the shuttle free, and how often does it run?
- Where exactly does it stop near the Haram?
- Does it run around Fajr and after taraweeh?
Public option: the Makkah Bus network (12 routes and around 400 buses as of January 2026) serves many areas; check the stops near your hotel.
For elderly pilgrims, a closer hotel usually beats a cheaper shuttle hotel — the walking and waiting add up.
Next step: our guide on how reliable Makkah shuttle hotels are covers this in detail.
