Can we visit Taif or Badr during our Umrah trip?

In short

Yes — both are popular day trips. Taif is a cooler mountain city a few hours' round trip from Makkah, with historic mosques and gardens. Badr, between Madinah and the coast, is the site of the Battle of Badr. Umrah visa holders may travel to other cities during their visa.

Taif (from Makkah)

  • A mountain city, noticeably cooler than Makkah in summer.
  • Pilgrims visit historic mosques and the city's gardens and markets.
  • Taif lies beyond the miqat of Qarn al-Manazil; pilgrims who want a second Umrah sometimes enter ihram on the way back — ask your scholar about doing so.

Badr (from Madinah)

  • The site of the Battle of Badr, with the martyrs' graves.
  • A long day trip by road; leave early.

Visa: the Umrah visa allows travel between Saudi cities during its validity.

Planning

  • Book a car and driver rather than relying on taxis for long trips.
  • Carry water and snacks; check prayer times along the way.
  • Don't plan day trips on the same day as your Umrah or a Rawdah slot.
