Taif is about 90 minutes from Makkah by car via the Al Hada mountain road. A typical day visits the Al Hada viewpoint and cable car, rose farms (in season, roughly March–April), Shubra Palace and the old souq. Because Taif lies outside the Miqat, many pilgrims enter Ihram at Qarn al-Manazil (As-Sail al-Kabir) or Wadi Muharram on the way back and perform another Umrah.

- Leave Makkah after Fajr; return before Isha or stay one night.
- Taif is usually 10–15°C cooler than Makkah — carry a light layer.
- Wadi Muharram (on the Al Hada road) and As-Sail al-Kabir are the Miqat points for Qarn al-Manazil.
- Bring Ihram clothes in the car if you plan a second Umrah.
- A private car is easiest for families and elders; check the cable car is running before you go.
Tell your driver in the morning you want to stop at the Miqat mosque on the way back, so there is time for ghusl, Ihram and two rak'ahs.
Getting there
The Al Hada road climbs steeply with hairpin bends and views over the valley. Travellers prone to motion sickness should sit in front and take short breaks. The As-Sail road is longer but gentler.
What to see
Popular stops are the Al Hada viewpoint and cable car, Al Shafa's mountain farms, rose water distilleries, Shubra Palace, Al Rudaf Park and the old souq for honey, dried fruit and rose products.
A second Umrah on the way back
Anyone travelling from Taif to Makkah with the intention of Umrah must enter Ihram at the Miqat. Make the intention, wear Ihram, pray two rak'ahs if possible and recite the Talbiyah. Use our Miqat Calculator to double-check your route. Ask a scholar you trust for personal rulings.
Booking with us
We arrange private cars with drivers who know the Miqat stop, plus guided Taif tours. Marhaba Haji does not sell standalone visas. Umrah visa assistance is offered only as part of an eligible full package.
