Harab Rasheed
The climb
- The Path to the Cave of Hira begins inside the Hira Cultural District at the foot of Jabal al-Nour and leads up the mountain. The district and the path are open 24 hours.
- It is steep, with many steps — fit pilgrims usually go in the cool early morning or after sunset, with water and good shoes.
- Not recommended for elderly pilgrims, young children who tire easily, or anyone with heart, joint or breathing problems.
Is there an easier way up?
- A cable car to the cave was announced in 2024, with opening planned for 2025. As of October 2026 the district's official website does not list a cable car among its services, and we have found no report of it opening — so don't plan a visit around it.
For those who won't climb
- The district's Revelation Exhibition and Qur'an Museum tell the story of the first revelation. Opening hours (official site): Saturday–Wednesday 7:30–23:30, Thursday 7:30–01:00, Friday 15:30–01:00. Tickets are booked through the district's official booking link.
Remember: visiting the cave is a historical visit, not a rite of Umrah.
Next step: our Cave of Hira guide, and our Makkah ziyarat service.
