Harab Rasheed
What changes in Ramadan
- Crowds: the Haram is at its fullest, especially for taraweeh and in the last ten nights. Tawaf and sa'i take much longer.
- Prices: hotel rates near both Harams rise sharply, and many hotels sell only full-Ramadan or last-ten-nights blocks. Book early.
- Daily rhythm: your day runs around suhoor, iftar and night prayers; many shops and restaurants shift their hours late into the night.
- Timing of the season: Ramadan 1448 is expected around February–March 2027. The ministry's last date for Umrah visa issuance is 1 Shawwal (9 March 2027), so you cannot leave your visa to the end of Ramadan.
With children or elderly parents
- Plan Umrah itself for a quieter hour (often mid-morning) rather than right after taraweeh.
- Agree a meeting point inside the mosque; crowds separate families easily.
- Keep the children's routine as normal as possible and build in rest days.
Is it worth it? For many families, yes — but go in knowing it is crowded and costly, and choose a hotel your family can actually walk from.
