Is it better to perform Umrah during the day or at night in Ramadan?

We'll be fasting. When is the easiest time to do our Umrah?

In short

Many pilgrims perform Umrah after Iftar or late at night, when it is cooler and they have eaten and drunk. Daytime Tawaf and Sa'i while fasting is harder, especially for elders. The Mataf is busy at night too, so pick a time between prayers rather than just before Isha or Fajr.

After Iftar or late at night

  • Cooler, and you can drink water between Tawaf and Sa'i.
  • Busy around Taraweeh and, in the last ten, around Tahajjud; go between prayers.

During the day

  • Often a little quieter in the morning, but harder while fasting.
  • If you choose the day, rest first and keep the pace gentle.

For elders

  • Wheelchairs and electric carts can be used for Tawaf and Sa'i at Masjid al-Haram.

Next step: see Ramadan 2027 dates and crowds, or ask us to plan arrival times around your Umrah.
