We heard there is a second night prayer in the last ten. When is it?

In short

Yes. In the last ten nights, Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi hold a second congregational night prayer (Qiyam or Tahajjud) late at night, after Taraweeh earlier in the evening. Many pilgrims rest between the two; a hotel close by makes that possible.

A night in the last ten

  • Isha and Taraweeh in the evening.
  • Rest, then return for Tahajjud late at night.
  • Suhoor, then Fajr.

Plan for it

  • Choose a hotel a short walk from the Haram so you can go back between prayers.
  • Sleep in the afternoon where you can.

Next step: see the last ten nights in Makkah.
