Is Umrah in Ramadan suitable for elderly parents?

My parents are in their seventies. Is Ramadan too much for them?

In short

It can be, with the right plan. The first and middle ten days are calmer than the last ten nights. Choose a hotel with a short, flat walk, plan Umrah for the cooler hours, use a wheelchair for Tawaf and Sa'i if needed, and speak to their doctor about fasting and medication before travel.

A gentler plan

  • Travel in the first or middle ten days.
  • A hotel close to the Haram, served by lifts, with a step-free route.
  • Rest days between nights of Taraweeh.

Before they travel

  • A doctor's advice on fasting with their medication.
  • A wheelchair request with the airline and on transfers.

Next step: see the first and middle ten days, or read how to book Umrah for your parents from abroad.
