Do children need their own Umrah visa and vaccinations?

In short

Yes. Every child needs their own passport and visa, and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health requires all Umrah pilgrims to be vaccinated against meningitis. Ask your child's doctor which vaccine suits their age, and get it at least 10 days before arrival.

Documents

  • Own passport for every child, including infants, valid for at least six months.
  • Own visa, applied for together with the parents so names, dates and hotel rooms match.

Vaccination

  • The Saudi Ministry of Health requires all individuals intending to perform Umrah to have a meningococcal ACYW vaccine at least 10 days before arrival (conjugate within 5 years, or polysaccharide within 3 years).
  • The requirement document doesn't set a minimum age, so your child's doctor should advise on the right vaccine for very young children.
  • Keep each child's certificate with their passport.

Travel tips

  • Book rooms that fit the whole family every night.
  • Bring a carrier for the Haram (prams aren't allowed on the Mataf ground floor).
  • Write your phone number on a wristband or card in the child's pocket.

Next step: our visa service applies for the whole family together.
