Can we break our fast inside Masjid al-Haram?

Is there Iftar in the mosque, or do we need to go back to the hotel?

In short

Yes. In Ramadan, Iftar is shared in the Haram's courtyards and prayer areas, usually dates, water and Zamzam set out on long mats before Maghrib. Many pilgrims break their fast there and eat a fuller meal at the hotel after Taraweeh or at Suhoor.

What to expect

  • Mats with dates, water and Zamzam are laid out before Maghrib; arrive early to find a place.
  • Keep the area clean and follow the staff's directions; rules on what food is allowed inside can change.

Hotel meals

  • Some hotels serve Suhoor and Iftar; it varies by hotel, so ask before booking.

Next step: ask us which hotels include Suhoor or Iftar for your dates.
