Essential Takeaways at a Glance
  • Keep medicines in original packaging with a printed prescription.
  • Controlled drugs (e.g. codeine, tramadol, some sedatives) can need a Saudi permit.
  • Bring unscented soap and products for while in Ihram.
  • Pack broken-in footwear and a foldable prayer mat.
  • Carry a meningitis vaccination certificate if required for your route.
Pilgrim Pro Tip: Split your medicines

Keep a few days' supply in hand luggage and the rest in checked bags, so a delayed suitcase never interrupts treatment.

Documents

Keep passport, visa and bookings both printed and on your phone. Install the Nusuk app and log in before travel.

Saudi medication rules

Saudi Arabia controls some medicines that are common elsewhere. Travellers usually carry only a personal supply, in original packs, with a prescription in English. If your medicine is a narcotic or psychotropic, check the Saudi Food & Drug Authority guidance before flying.

On-ground help

We can arrange pharmacy stops and wheelchair help in Makkah and Madinah. Marhaba Haji does not sell standalone visas. Umrah visa assistance is offered only as part of an eligible full package.
