Quick Summary & Direct Answer

The Haramain high-speed train links Makkah, Jeddah (Sulaymaniyah and King Abdulaziz Airport), King Abdullah Economic City and Madinah. Makkah to Madinah usually takes around 2 hours 15–30 minutes. Book on the official Haramain website or app, choose Economy or Business, and keep luggage within the allowance. Stations are outside the Haram areas, so plan a taxi or car to your hotel.

Essential Takeaways at a Glance
  • Book early in Ramadan and peak season; trains sell out.
  • Business class offers wider seats and more luggage allowance.
  • Arrive at the station at least 30–45 minutes before departure.
  • Makkah station is several kilometres from the Haram — plan a transfer.
  • Families with many bags or elders often prefer a private car door to door.
Pilgrim Pro Tip: Pair the train with private transfers

We can meet you at the station with a car and luggage help, so elders don't struggle between platform and hotel.

How to book

Use the official Haramain High Speed Railway website or app, enter passenger names exactly as on passports, and keep the e-ticket on your phone. Check the current luggage allowance on the ticket page.

Ihram on the train

Travelling from Madinah to Makkah for Umrah, you pass the Miqat at Dhul Hulayfah. Many pilgrims enter Ihram in Madinah before boarding, since the train does not stop at the Miqat. Marhaba Haji does not sell standalone visas. Umrah visa assistance is offered only as part of an eligible full package.
