Mosque manners in a full Ramadan masjid
Masjids are fuller in Ramadan than at any other time, so small manners matter more.
- Come clean and decently dressed. The Qur'an (7:31) says to take your adornment at every masjid.
- Skip raw garlic and onion before you go. A hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari (855) asks whoever has eaten them to keep away from the mosque, because of the smell.
- Phone on silent, and keep conversations for outside.
- Shoes in the racks, not in the walkway.
- Parking: don't block your neighbours' gates and drives. A hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari (6014) says Jibril kept advising the Prophet ﷺ about the neighbour, and the people living near the masjid are neighbours every night of Ramadan.
