UAE Visa for Indians: Dubai & Abu Dhabi

Which UAE visa an Indian passport holder needs for Dubai or Abu Dhabi — tourist visa, visa on arrival with a US/UK/EU visa, GCC-resident e-visa and family visits — with documents and refusal reasons.

Quick answer

Most Indian passport holders need a UAE tourist visa (30 or 60 days) arranged before they fly; it arrives as a PDF by e-mail. If you hold a valid US visa or Green Card, a UK or EU visa or residence — and under recent rules a visa or residence from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore or South Korea — you can usually get a visa on arrival instead. Residents of other GCC countries can usually apply for a UAE e-visa for GCC residents.

Documents usually needed

  • Colour scan of your passport's first and last pages
  • Recent photo on a white background, face clearly visible
  • Return or onward ticket (often asked for)
  • Hotel booking, or the address of the family you stay with
  • If you lived in the UAE before: proof your old residence visa was cancelled

Common reasons for refusal

  • Name, date of birth or passport number typed differently from the passport
  • A blurred passport scan or a photo that does not meet the size and background rules
  • Passport valid for less than 6 months from the arrival date
  • A previous overstay, absconding case or unpaid fine in the same country
  • A previous UAE residence visa that was never cancelled

Tips before you apply

  • Apply at least a week before travel; busy seasons (Diwali, Eid, December) take longer
  • Check the name order on your passport and copy it exactly
  • Children need their own visa, even when travelling with parents

01Do Indians get a visa on arrival in Dubai?
Only with a qualifying document: a valid US visa or Green Card, a UK or EU visa or residence, and under recent rules a visa or residence from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore or South Korea. Everyone else needs a UAE visa arranged before travel.
02How long does a UAE tourist visa take for Indians?
Usually a few working days, longer in peak seasons. We state the current range for your case before you pay.
03Can my son or daughter in Dubai sponsor my visit visa?
Usually yes, if they meet the UAE's salary and residence rules for sponsoring family. If they don't, a tourist visa through our desk is the simplest alternative.
04Can I look for a job in Dubai on a tourist visa?
A tourist visa does not allow you to work. Be careful of anyone offering a job through a visit visa.
