The Hajj days at a glance

Hajj itself takes place from the 8th to the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's guide sets out the days like this:

  • 8th (Tarwiyah): go to Mina and spend the day and night there.
  • 9th (Arafah): stand at Arafah from after midday until sunset, then move to Muzdalifah for the night.
  • 10th (Day of Sacrifice): stone Jamrat al-Aqabah, offer the sacrifice (hady) if it's due, shave or trim the hair, and perform Tawaf al-Ifadah (with sa'i if it's due).
  • 11th–13th (Days of Tashreeq): stay in Mina and stone all three Jamarat each day, leaving on the 12th or the 13th.
  • Before leaving Makkah: the farewell tawaf.

The pillars of Hajj, without which it isn't valid, are ihram, standing at Arafah, Tawaf al-Ifadah and sa'i. This World covers the 8th and 9th.
