Do I need a Nusuk permit to perform Umrah if I already have a visa?

In short

Yes. Your visa lets you enter Saudi Arabia, but performing Umrah also needs an Umrah permit — a time slot booked in the Nusuk app. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah says this applies to every Umrah visit, including on the one-year multiple-entry Umrah visa.

Visa and permit are two different things

  • The visa (Umrah, tourist or another permitted type) lets you enter Saudi Arabia.
  • The Umrah permit is a dated time slot booked in the Nusuk app. It is what you show to perform Umrah at Masjid al-Haram.

What to know

  • Book the permit for a time that fits your arrival — after landing and checking in, with a margin for delays.
  • If you are on a package, your provider may book it for you; ask for the confirmation.
  • The Rawdah visit in Madinah is a separate Nusuk permit. It is not included in the Umrah permit.
  • The ground floor of the Mataf is reserved for pilgrims performing Umrah; others use the upper floors.

Common problems — login codes not arriving, the app not accepting a passport, no slots showing — are usually solvable; our Nusuk troubleshooting guide covers the fixes.
