How a shifting Hajj package works

You stay in a Makkah hotel for most of the trip and move to accommodation in Aziziyah, a district of Makkah closer to Mina, around the Hajj days. Being nearer Mina shortens the journey to the camps when the crowds are heaviest.

Each shifting package on this page shows its Makkah hotel and walking distance, its nights and its Mina camp category, read live from our package records. The written quote states which nights are spent where.

Who a shifting package suits

Shifting suits pilgrims who want a lower price and are comfortable with one move during the Hajj days. If you are travelling with elderly parents, or would rather not pack up mid-trip, compare our non-shifting packages, which keep one Makkah hotel throughout.

Choosing a package

Shifting vs non-shifting Hajj packages

Non-shifting

One Makkah hotel for the whole stay

Non-shifting packages keep you in one Makkah hotel for the whole stay. You avoid the move and stay close to the Haram, which many families and elderly pilgrims prefer, at a higher price.

  • No packing up during the busiest week
  • Stay close to the Haram throughout
  • Often chosen by families and elderly pilgrims
  • Higher price

Shifting

Makkah hotel plus Aziziyah around the Hajj days

Shifting packages move pilgrims between a hotel near the Haram and accommodation in Aziziyah, closer to Mina, around the Hajj days. They usually cost less, but mean packing up and moving during the busiest week.

  • Accommodation in Aziziyah, nearer Mina
  • Usually costs less

Each of our package pages states whether it is shifting or non-shifting, and the written quote confirms it.

Where you stay in Mina

Mina camp categories

During the Hajj days pilgrims stay in tents at Mina. Camps are graded A to D: the grade affects how close the camp is to the Jamarat, the tent and bedding, washrooms and food, and it is one of the biggest reasons two Hajj prices differ.

Some packages use Kidana towers instead of tents: multi-storey residential buildings in Mina built by Kidana Development Company, the executive arm of the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites. Pilgrims sleep in a building with shared facilities rather than a tent camp.

  • Category A

    Top grade

  • Category B

    Upper grade

  • Category C

    Standard grade

  • Category D

    Entry grade

  • Kidana towers

    Multi-storey buildings

Camps follow the category allotted by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. Always ask which category is included and whether an upgrade is priced separately, and get the answer in writing.

    The days of Tashreeq

Stay in Mina and stone all three Jamarat each day, then the farewell Tawaf before leaving Makkah.

Only with an official Hajj permit

Hajj is allowed only with an official Hajj permit. In the 2026 season Saudi Arabia fined people performing or attempting Hajj without a permit up to SAR 20,000 — including visit-visa holders — and fined those who helped them up to SAR 100,000, multiplied by the number of people involved. The 2027 penalties have not yet been announced.

Offers of Hajj on an Umrah, tourist or visit visa are illegal and put pilgrims at serious risk. Marhaba Haji never offers them.

Still deciding?

Our concierge replies on WhatsApp with options and an exact quote for your dates.

01What is a shifting Hajj package?
A shifting Hajj package moves you between a hotel near the Haram and accommodation in Aziziyah, closer to Mina, around the Hajj days, instead of keeping one Makkah hotel for the whole stay.
02Is a shifting Hajj package cheaper than non-shifting?
Usually, yes. The trade-off is packing up and moving during the busiest week. Compare the live per-person prices on this page with our non-shifting packages.
03Where will I stay in a shifting package?
In a Makkah hotel for most of the trip and in Aziziyah around the Hajj days. Each package shows its Makkah hotel and distance, and the written quote states which nights are spent where.
04Which Mina camp category do your shifting packages include?
It is set per package and shown in the table on this page, read live from our package records. Ask for it in writing before you pay.
05Are GST and TCS included in the price?
The per-person prices shown are before GST and TCS, which are extra as applicable. Your written quote shows the all-in total before you pay anything.
06Can I perform Hajj on an Umrah or visit visa?
No. Hajj needs an official Hajj permit. In 2026 Saudi Arabia fined people attempting Hajj without one up to SAR 20,000, and fined those who helped them up to SAR 100,000 for each person involved.
