Ramadan 2027 · Full month and i'tikaf

The whole month of Ramadan 2027 in Makkah and Madinah

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027. A month in the two Holy Cities needs more than extra nights: a room you can live in, rest days, a plan for moving between the cities, and early word on i'tikaf.

Splitting the month between the two cities

Ramadan is expected to run from Monday 8 February 2027 to Monday 8 or Tuesday 9 March 2027. Many pilgrims spend the first ten days in Madinah and move to Makkah as the middle ten begin, around 18 February, so the journey never takes one of the odd nights and they are settled before the busiest nights begin.

  • Madinah firstArrive Sunday 7 February, the day before the month is expected to begin, and stay to 18 February.
  • Then Makkah to EidFrom 18 February to the end of Ramadan, covering all of the last ten nights.

What a month-long stay needs

A room you can live in for a month

Twin beds or a double, space to store a month of clothes, and family or connecting rooms where you need them. Apartment-style rooms with a small kitchen exist in some hotels; ask and we check.

Laundry

Hotel laundry or a launderette nearby. Tell us what you need and we note what each hotel offers in your quote.

Rest days

A month of Taraweeh every night, then Tahajjud in the last ten, is tiring. Plan quieter days, especially in the first part of the month, so you have strength for the nights that matter most.

Distance still matters

You walk to the Haram and back many times a day for a month. We give the walking distance to a named gate and flag slopes and long walks for elderly pilgrims.

I'tikaf in the last ten nights

In recent years, i'tikaf at Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi has needed registration through official channels, with limited places. The rules for 2027 are announced closer to Ramadan. Tick the i'tikaf box in the form and we let you know when registration opens. We cannot promise a place.

Many pilgrims keep their hotel room during i'tikaf, for luggage, for family members who are not in i'tikaf, and to rest before and after. We can quote your stay either way.

Pace for elderly pilgrims

A month of fasting, long nights and walking is a lot for older pilgrims. Choose a hotel with a short, flat walk, plan rest days, and keep the busiest nights for the last ten. Tell us about wheelchairs or step-free routes and we note them in your quote.

Transport, Rawdah and visa

We arrange airport transfers and the Madinah–Makkah journey by private car, or the Haramain train with a car at each end. Rawdah visits in Madinah need a Nusuk permit, and Ramadan slots go quickly: see our Rawdah permit help.

A month-long stay needs a visa that covers every day of it. The visa depends on your passport: Indian passport holders can use our visa checker, GCC citizens need none, and many other passports use the Saudi tourist e-visa, so we don't sell them one. We check the route for your passport before you book.

What we confirm in writing before you pay

  • The hotel by name, and the room type: twin or double, and family or interconnecting rooms where you need them.
  • Walking distance to a named gate of the Haram, not a straight-line figure.
  • Haram view only when the hotel has confirmed it. Otherwise it is a request, and we say so.
  • Your exact dates and the total price, with taxes stated as included or not.
  • The last date you can cancel free of charge.
  • No substitute hotel without your consent.

Each part of the month is priced at its own Ramadan rate, so the quote shows what the last ten nights cost compared with the rest. How payment and refunds work is set out on payments, cancellations and refunds.

Our concierge replies on WhatsApp with options and an exact quote for your dates.

01When does Ramadan 2027 begin and end?
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027 and end on 8 or 9 March, with Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March. The moon sighting can move every date by a day, so we book exact calendar dates and suggest arriving the day before the month begins.
02How should we split the month between Madinah and Makkah?
Many pilgrims spend the first part of Ramadan in Madinah and move to Makkah as the middle ten days begin, around 18 February, well before the 21st night, so the journey never takes one of the odd nights. Others stay in Makkah all month. Tell us which you prefer and we quote both stays together.
03Can I do i'tikaf in Masjid al-Haram or Masjid an-Nabawi?
In recent years, i'tikaf at the two Holy Mosques has needed registration through official channels, with limited places. The rules for 2027 are announced closer to Ramadan. We confirm them and let you know when registration opens, but we cannot promise a place.
04Do I still need a hotel room during i'tikaf?
Many pilgrims keep their room, for luggage and for family members who are not in i'tikaf, and to rest before and after. We can quote your stay with or without the nights of i'tikaf.
05Does my visa cover a whole month?
It depends on your passport and the visa you hold. A month-long stay needs a visa that covers every day of it, so we check this for your passport before you book anything.
06Is a full month just the last ten nights with extra days?
No. A month needs a room you can live in, laundry, rest days and a plan for moving between the cities, and its price covers three different parts of Ramadan. Your quote shows each part at its own rate.
