If it's an emergency

  • Call 997 for a Saudi Red Crescent ambulance, or use their Asefni app — give your exact location. 911 is the unified emergency number in Makkah and Madinah.
  • Hotel reception and mosque staff can also call for help.
  • The Umrah insurance included with your visa covers emergency treatment, medicines, hospitalisation, emergency pregnancy care, urgent dialysis and medical evacuation, up to a reported SAR 100,000.

Be prepared before you travel

  • A written medical summary (conditions, medicines with generic names, allergies) — the Ministry of Health recommends pilgrims with chronic conditions carry one.
  • Medicines in original packs, with enough for delays; controlled medicines need advance SFDA clearance.
  • Your insurer's details saved on your phone.

Not an emergency? Many pharmacies near the Harams can help with minor problems. For ongoing conditions, ask your own doctor before travel what to do if symptoms change.

Next step: our Medical Desk service helps families plan Umrah around health conditions.
