For a family Umrah, choose the room set-up first and the hotel second. Decide between one quad or family room and two connecting rooms, check how the hotel handles children and extra beds, and keep the walk to the mosque short enough for small children and elders five times a day. Then get the room type, beds and any child charges confirmed in writing, because these are set per booking, not by the hotel's name.

- Pick the room set-up first: quad, family room or connecting rooms.
- Child and extra-bed rules differ by hotel; confirm them in writing.
- A short, easy walk matters more with children and elders.
- Check breakfast timing against your prayer and sleep routine.
- Book early for school holidays and Ramadan.
In this Guide
"Quad room" can mean four single beds or two doubles. Ask exactly which beds are in the room and whether an extra bed or cot is possible, and get the answer on your confirmation.
Choosing the room set-up
Start with how your family wants to sleep. A quad or family room keeps everyone together and is often cheaper than two rooms; connecting rooms give more space and privacy for larger families or older children.
Connecting rooms and adjacent rooms are usually requests, not guarantees. If it matters, ask for them to be confirmed in writing.
Children and extra beds
Each hotel sets its own rules on children sharing beds, extra beds, cots and age limits, and some charge for older children. Tell us each child's age when you ask for a quote so the price includes them correctly.
Pack for long days: light clothes, water and snacks for the walk, and a plan for where the family meets if anyone gets separated at the mosque.
Walking distance with children
Small children and elders feel every extra minute of walking, five times a day and often in heat. A hotel within a short, easy walk lets the family go back to rest between prayers, which often matters more than a bigger room further away.
In Makkah, check the route for slopes and stairs. In Madinah, think about which side of the mosque the women and children will use most.
Meals and daily routine
Check whether breakfast is included and what time it runs. Fajr, a rest, then breakfast is a common family rhythm, so a breakfast window that starts early and runs late helps.
Some families prefer a kettle and fridge in the room for children's snacks and milk. Ask what the room includes.
